Toyota Partners With MIT To Create a Research Center Autonomous Cars

Toyota Partners With MIT To Create a Research Center Autonomous Cars,

The department dedicated to MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence (CSAIL) announced an investment of $ 25 million to create a research center funded by Toyota, to promote the development of autonomous vehicle technologies.

The announcement , made at a conference in California, is part of a larger project in which Toyota plans to invest, also partnering with Stanford University to advance this sector.

Initially we will work on the development of algorithms and systems that allow vehicles to drive and make decisions without need of any human, but there is also a different approach. Generally autonomous systems are based on a car platform automatically leads and a human who takes control if "pass something weird." This new center will perform the reverse process: the human can be in control, and automatic act quickly if the chance of an accident is detected, useful both to avoid collisions as for driving in difficult places.

They will also develop new tools for collecting and analyzing navigation data in order to learn more about how we conduct human as well as in building predictive models that can anticipate the behavior of people, vehicles and the environment.

We are getting closer to be able to guarantee autonomous cars work and that humans do not represent any danger to them.
